What is Uterine or Endometrial Cancer?

Uterine cancer is uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lining of the uterus.

What are Signs and Symptoms of Uterine Cancer?

Signs and symptoms of uterine cancer include bleeding from the vagina that is outside of the norm. For example, perhaps the blood looks like watery vaginal discharge with a pinkish or whitish hue instead of red. Or perhaps you start having heavy bleeding at a time when you are not supposed to be on your period.

Bleeding after you have finished menopause is a major red flag, so please see your doctor if this applies to you.

Here are some additional signs and symptoms of uterine cancer:

  • Trouble urinating
  • Pain when urinating
  • Discomfort or pain when engaging in sexual intercourse
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • Pain in the pelvis

How is Uterine Cancer Diagnosed and Treated?

Depending on the nature of your cancer, the treatment plan your doctor creates for you may include one or more of the following:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormone therapy
