What is CyberKnife®?

What is CyberKnife®?

The CyberKnife® system is a highly advanced stereotactic radiosurgery device that allows doctors to treat tumors with high doses of radiation delivered precisely to a specific area without having to make an incision. The CyberKnife® system’s flexible robotic arm is able to reach areas traditional devices can’t, making it a great option for patients previously diagnosed with inoperable or surgically complex tumors.

And because there are no incisions, there is no bleeding, no pain, usually no anesthesia, and virtually zero recovery time needed.

What is Stereotactic Surgery?

Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), uses 3-dimensional imaging and computer guidance to shape and deliver radiation beams with pinpoint accuracy to tumors without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. It damages a cell’s DNA preventing it from dividing and multiplying. SRS is a non-invasive procedure because there is no cutting of the body like traditional surgery. It is performed on an outpatient basis.

What is Stereotactic Surgery?

Stereotactic surgery, or navigational surgery, is a very mild form of surgery that helps doctors gather information about a tumor in 3D without doing major cutting on the body. Using the information, the doctor gets from the procedure helps the doctor figure out the best way to get rid of the tumor.
